Kaeng Ka Bao area
The Kaeng Ka Bao area is near Mukdahan on the banks of the Mekong river in Thailand. The resort is located on the Thai side between Mukdahan and That Phanom.
Mukdahan
Mukdahan is a small city with some very interesting markets, especially the "IndoChine Market". In the neighborhood of Mukdahan are two National Parks "Phu Manorom" and "Phu Pha Thoep". On the other side of the Mekong river is the Laotian city of Savannakhet where a Thai Consulate is located.
At the Mukdahan bus station there are busses to and from all around Thailand including VIP bus service from Bangkok and Pattaya.
That Phanom
Wat Phra That Phanom is a magnificent Buddhist temple which is located on the sacred hill of Phu Kamphra. Where you can observe unique Thai architecture and enjoy peace of mind.
Mekong River
The resort has is own beach on the Mekong river at the Mekong rapids. In the more touristy area, 500 meters from the resort, you'll find a lot of small restaurants and hay covered huts to protect you from the sun. The more adventurist people can go for a motorized long tailed boat trip with a captain and spend the hole day on the Mekong Islands.
Blueberry farm
Another possibility is a tour into the forest from Kaeng Ka Bao which also includes a visit to a blueberry farm can be arranged with an English speaking farmer.
